Epic Bay Day - How to fizz a pike
I finally got out fishing with buddy Bob Formosa on Georgian Bay. I think we are going on 30 years where we fishing spring pike on GBay together even if it was in 2 boats.
What an incredible day. Not a lot of fish but the size was great. Among others we boated a 42, 41, and 38 inch fish plus a 6 pound walleye. Our 2 biggest pike came as a double header and it was mayhem trying to get them away from each other, boated and released.
Mine unfortunately swallowed my Cutter Jerk Bait and required some surgery. The exhausted fish couldn't recover and its bladder had bloated badly. Couldn't get her right side up. I kept it in the livewell for some time but it didn't look like she would make it. The thought of eating a big pike like that turned my stomach. Bob suggested I fizz her like you would a bass.
I have never fizzed a pike before. I knew where the bladder was so I stuck the needle in and the bubbles came out. After a long fizz she righted herself and came alive. When I released her she swam right down. That felt so good.
I actually didn't even get a good picture because Bob is the worst camera man in the history of fishing lol. The good news is, I'm having walleye for dinner tonight.

I spend 250 days a year on the water and I still feel I'm missing Time on the Water.

Dont listen to him Bob, you got a few good ones there 😁. Nice outing with some beauties caught. I caved and finally got the better half to cut my shag off. I will never go to a barber again. Best freaking haircut ever!

First time she did it years ago, I had to shave my head. This time I got her to look at a couple YouTube videos, bought a clipper system for her and she is a natural.
